Polar.lu asbl, Luxembourg’s polar program, was created following the Polar Year 2007-2008. From Colupo, the Luxembourg Committee for the Polar Year, and APECS Luxembourg in 2014, polar.lu aims to promote polar research and the polar regions among the general public and schools. Polar.lu is a member of the European Polar Board and APECS.
Polar.lu aims to promote the polar regions in Luxembourg, including through:
Polar research.
Networking and national and international collaborations to encourage researchers affiliated with polar.lu to participate in international programs and assist in their planning and execution.
Encourage and support young students and researchers to undertake projects in and / or on the polar regions.
Organization of events: conferences, exhibitions, scientific travels, internships...
Support, organize and undertake Luxembourg polar expeditions.
Make polar cultures and arts known.
Awareness of the general public, teachers, educators, multipliers, and young people on polar scientific research, the environment, sustainable development, polar cultures, impact and relationship between our (modes of) lives and the polar regions.
